In this difficult time, I greet you in the name of Jesus, who loves us and died on the cross to save us from sin and eternal death. Jesus said “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
The Lord is our Good Shepherd. He will guide us through this valley of the shadow of death.
I appreciate Pastor Joo Young and his lovely wife Mi Jin for leading the Youth Group and EM. I also appreciate the EM and Youth Group leadership for relying on God for strength and reaching out to God’s flock in love. Good Friday (Friday, April 10)
On this day, around 12 noon, Jesus was crucified on the cross for you and I and around 3 pm He died. In remembrance of his suffering and death for us, I encourage you to fast something you love from now until Saturday night. For me, I decided to fast coffee, surrender anger, mindless internet browsing, and the desire for approval from people. On Friday, if possible, I would like to encourage all to fast from food until 3 pm.
Good Friday Service and Home Communion (Friday, April 10, 8 pm)
Also on Friday we will be partaking in communion online together at 8 pm during our Good Friday service. Please prepare some bread and grape juice on a table and have all your household gather around the table. After the bilingual sermon, I will lead a time of communion in Korean and in English. We invite you to partake in communion if you are confirmed or baptized. Easter Sunday Service and Special Offering (Sunday, April 12, 11 am)
Originally, we were going to have a joint worship service however we have decided to stream separate services this Easter in a desire to keep the number of people gathering together to a minimum. Every Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, CFAN encourages its members to give a special offering to God. While many are struggling financially due to the pandemic I feel somewhat conflicted asking this of you, however, as we see in Mark, Jesus honored the giving of the two copper coins from a poor widow. Jesus also received the pouring of expensive perfume from the woman.
In addition to the Easter special offering, CFAN is also accepting “Mercy Offerings” to help those who are suffering financially due to COVID-19. Through this mercy offering, we would like to bless and encourage church members in financial distress and, if possible, our local community members as well. You can give to this fund through any of the ways we are collecting Sunday offering (listed below). Please write “COVID-19 Mercy Offering” in the memo line.
